Vraa Library

Vraa library is a natural fusion of culture, learning and leisure. Just outside of Aalborg, Denmark, Vraa library is the hub, heart and home of the entire community. 

Integrated in the new award-winning Vraa school, the design of the public library draws inspiration from the danish landscape and is the center of learning and exploration for students and the public. 

The design typology is carefully developed to imitate the natural force that spirals out from the surrounding forestry. With strong references to nature's source of energy and growth, a root system entangles as a center-piece for inspiration and exploration and provides a fertile ground for imagination.

Stretching in different directions, the roots shape a trail sytem with multiple sensory experiences. Nourishing our resources and foundation is part of a healthy life and human development. The root system inspire to natural growth, creativity and curiosity, and invites its users to connect with people and the planet. 

Vraa library is part of the network of Hjoerring Libraries. The 10,000 sqm school and community house opened its doors in the Summer of 2022.
