Agora Lledó International School
2024, Spain
Learning through play is the heart of the new state-of-the-art Knowledge Center at Agora Lledó International School in Castellón, Spain. A school nestled in a singular setting, embraced by orange groves and positioned between the vibrant city of Castellón and the tranquil expanse of the Mediterranean Sea.
From orange groves to wave-like forms and straight lines reflecting urban innovation, the design of the new Knowledge Center draws references to local heritage through unique and inspiring, differentiated learning spaces that support engagement, creativity, and discovery while blending digital technology to improve the learning experience. The students' well-being, academic success, and personal growth are supported through a nature-inspired design drawing references from three key elements of the local environment—mountains, city, and sea.
The Knowledge Center forms the heart of the school, moving through the building like a spiral of growth. It connects different educational stages from Early Years to Baccalaureate, offering dedicated learning spaces for each age group. Students can embark on an individual learning journey in a learning landscape with different spaces supporting focused work, co-creation, and collaborative learning.
The design unfolds through five interconnected learning environments, each matching the students' development stages: The Entrance Atrium Library, The Early Years Library, The Primary School Zone, The Secondary and Baccalaureate STEAM Center, and The Baccalaureate Study Center.
From Kindergarten to Baccalaureate, students can embark on an individual learning journey in a playful and inspiring learning environment designed to teach the students 21st century skills and maximize each student's learning potential.
