Hjørring Central Library
2008, Hjørring, Denmark
A red ribbon folds and bends through Hjørring Central Library. Across the library's departments, the notable installation creates coherence and unexpected experiences for the city's citizens.
Along its way, the ribbon takes the shape of counters, tables, shelf sections, and showcases that serve as a dissemination tool for books, movies, exhibitions, and music collections.
With the staging, the interior blur the boundaries between art and functional furnishing, so the library visitors are inspired to interact with their surroundings. Our design works to create serendipity – the unexpected inspirational discoveries – to activate the library as an arena for the city's youth.
Libraries should be the venue for creativity, stimulus, and cultural acquisition. With the layout of Hjørring Central Library, we have created an innovative and captivating setting for the future library.
