Planning Learning Spaces Available in Bookstores
With educational thought leader Sir Ken Robinson, Professor Peter Barrett and Herman Hertzberger, we are contributing to the new book Planning Learning Spaces by Laurence King Publishing for architects, interior designers and educators – now available in bookstores.
The official book launch will be marked November 20 at the Education Construction Network annual conference at RICS in Westminster with a full day conference, including a special contribution by Rosan Bosch.
Our design of the preschool Liceo Europa and the Vittra schools showcase innovative school design throughout the book with insights and illustrations – as well as on its cover.
“The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn’t need to be reformed — it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions.” – Sir Ken Robinson
Through design examples, guidelines and inspirational material, Planning Learning Spaces demonstrates cutting-edge approaches to educational space design, from primary to college studies, and explains how these spaces support education and enhance learning experiences.
The editors have brought together educationalists and innovative school architects to pool their collective expertise and inspire the design of more intelligent learning spaces. We contribute to the chapter on the design for preschool and the early years, where play and flexibility are vital for engaging and motivating the youngest students.
