VILLUM Window Collection
2015, Søborg, Denmark
In a vibrant exhibition concept, the VILLUM Window Collection displays the cultural history of the window, its technological progress, and importance for the access to daylight, fresh air, and outlook.
With the exhibition design, it is our ambition to activate the window as a shared cultural history. The installation unfolds the extensive collections of windows and makes them accessible to a broader audience as a relatable aesthetic experience.
The visitors are invited on a journey through a Time Tunnel structured by the eras of windows. Here, casement styles and manufacturing techniques are linked with a humanistic view of the window that emphasizes the importance of the window for architecture, urban planning and the overall quality of life.
A main feature of the exhibition is a colorful wall of sliding panels, designed with inspiration from the color spectrum of light. Visitors can explore more than 90 different window types with different periodic and stylistic features – a collection that grows year by year.
