New Learning Spaces Ready at the Western Academy of Beijing
Maximizing learning for all students is at the heart of the new learning environment at the Western Academy of Beijing. During the school’s summer holiday, our prototype learning landscapes for middle school and high school have been installed and finalized – and are now put into use by the learners.
The design dilutes the traditional classrooms and present instead flexible, diverse and variable spaces that support the targets from the school's FLoW21 strategy, such as team-teaching, flexible learning groups, individualized timetables, self-directed learning and mentorship.
Throughout the prototype areas, we have worked with a design concept inspired by the IB program’s Theory of Knowledge. Ten differentiated learning space typologies offer the students a learning landscape for empowerment and self-directed learning.
Good learning is constantly transforming. With the new flexible design, the Western Academy of Beijing can support their teaching methods in a framework made for innovative thinking.
The two new prototype areas are the first out of more giving direction to a transformation of the entire campus.
Construction and implementation in collaboration with anySCALE Beijing.
