D.O.K. Zuid – A Visionary Design for Higher Education Combining Urban Integration

The project D.O.K. brought together a team of experts in architecture, sustainability, education, and urbanism, led by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta to design the master plan of the urban area where the Artevelde University campus would be developed. Rosan Bosch Studio contributed to the project as consultants of design that enhance the learning experience of the users.

Oriented toward a canal, the long and slim plot of the project faces a newly developed business area on the east side of the canal, next to a densely populated, socially and culturally, diverse neighborhood towards the west. In the south of the plot, a high-rise building marks the Dampoort square, welcoming a traffic node into the city. As part of the D.O.K. Zuid project, we propose adjustments to the traffic system including a new tramway with a station next to the university.
