Learning gardens foster meaningful education in Thailand. Set outside the vibrant city of Bangkok, KIS International School Reignwood Park is developing a 40,000 sqm flourishing landscape for sensory learning.

To ignite students’ innate curiosity, the lush nature of Thailand is woven into the design concept created by Rosan Bosch Studio and local partners. Learners will embark on a journey of discovery and exploration with three core learning paths connecting students in communities for arts, sports and science. The physical environment is organized around differentiated learning gardens carefully developed to support natural growth on a journey of learning.

The seven buildings of the IB world school each represent flourishing gardens themed for the different age groups with an integration of nature, learning trails and a glocal perspective. The design resonates with the harmony of nature offering tactility, colors and shapes that engage students in a landscape of sensory learning experiences. The innovative pedagogical approach of KIS is carefully supported by learner-centered environments to offer a truly forward-thinking school for developing 21st century skills.

The natural haven at KIS International School Reignwood Park is part of the new Reignwood Park community, expected to be the largest mixed-use community in Thailand. The park offers several extraordinary residential areas and facilities for sports and leisure for all ages. KIS International School Reignwood Park’s progressive IB World School, will be KIS’s second campus set to open in August 2024.

A journey from Harmony to Synergy

When entering KIS International School Reignwood Park, a spacious and intriguing world for sensory learning appears. By activating body and mind, learners will experience an intensification of the learning – it not only helps stimulate creativity and imagination: it also enables learners to become aware of how they learn. Inspired by the remarkable lotus wetlands, the design of the reception area, Garden of Harmony, creates a welcoming feeling of openness and balance. A large staircase acts not merely as a beautiful centerpiece connecting the learning environments, it invites students and parents to assemble and interact. At the heart of the school, intriguing spaces for co-creation, informal meeting hubs and exhibition areas allow students to showcase projects and ideas within arts, sports and science.

Moving towards the dedicated learning areas, the Garden of Discovery invites the early year group to explore stimulating and safe environments designed to activate the senses. Following the growth and development and to continuously inspire students to be curious, exploring learners, the Garden of Wonder encourages students in the Primary Years to ignite their innate curiosity and question what surrounds them. The Garden of Energy allows students across age groups to engage in sports activities of all kinds, with an enormous, customized climbing wall and various equipment for differentiated training. From the Middle Years to the Career-related Program, students engage in the Garden of Synergy that provides the older students with cross-disciplinary learning to interact and explore the connectivity between arts and science

Holistic pedagogical visions

The holistic pedagogy is reflected and infused in the student-centered learning spaces supporting a new academic standard. The pedagogical framework is supported by learning environments informed by the studio’s six design principles to enable students to explore different sets of skills. The learning environments are designed for students to explore their individual potential as autonomous learners in a connected world for creative problem-solving, well-being and community building. The differentiated learning landscape provides a wide range of learning situations for students to learn how they learn best and become motivated life-long learners.
