Stengård School
2019, Gladsaxe, Denmark
For the youngest children at Stengård School, a flexible environment offers the opportunity to vary and combine learning situations throughout the school day.
With thematic areas, the teachers can easily mix activities of presentations, hands-on exercises and collaborative projects. The students can work in groups, retreat or gather around the grand staircase for community singing or collective instructions. The adjacent platform is equipped with an integrated screen and a back that serves as a knowledge wall for exhibitions and informal student presentations.
The remodeling of the primary students' environment at Stengård School is part of Gladsaxe Municipality's practical experiments for the strategy School of the Future. Through a user process, we have prepared the teacher team to work with teaching methods fitting the new physical framework.
With the project, the school moves away from one chair and one table for everyone model and instead presents a learning environment full of variety, movement and opportunities to support the development of skills for the 21st Century.
