spaces for serendipity

The physical layout should reflect people's innate need for social interaction by creating differentiated learning environments where children, teenagers and adults can meet, collaborate and immerse themselves in projects.

We work strategically to create spaces for serendipity – the art of making unplanned, fortunate discoveries, as described by Peter Van Andel in Anatomy of the unsought finding and by library researcher Lennart Björneborn who consider serendipity central for the facilitating library didactic. Libraries must provide new interfaces for knowledge, so users readily discover, use and learn from the resources at hand. And easily share them with peers.

At Rosan Bosch Studio, we combine the library with cultural functions and create dynamic centers relevant to local citizens. Libraries must be the cause joy and engagement – the place you go to for new perspectives.
